Who is For Kids? For Kids is a program out of Norfolk, VA that tries to combat homelessness and poverty in families with children. They help at least 80 children and their families with shelter daily and aid approximately 200 non-residents a month in other ways. Most of their residents come with hardly and clothes and belongings.

In the winter, many of these children are going to need warm clothing. Including non-residents, we are talking about 280 children who will need warm clothes. That's where you come in! Let's get to work and fill that need this winter.

Patterns
There is a wealth of patterns that can be viewed for free at http://www.bevscountrycottage.com/winter.html I contacted Beverly personally and she gave me the green light to post her link on our blog since we are crocheting for charity. Patterns have a letter next to them meaning (C) Crochet, (K) Knit, (S) Sew. You are also more than welcome to use your own patterns for your projects.

Check-in Once A MonthTo make things interesting, I am asking everyone to send me a tally of your completed project on the 29th of every month. I'll post our "Total Count" the first week of every month to keep us motivated. A sample email can be something like "I  made 2 hats and one scarf this month." Then, I'll post on our blog something like:

SAMPLE
For Kids Project Tally (5/1/2011)

6   Blankets
1   Hat
2   Scarves
4   Mittens

13 Total Articles Made So Far

If you want to share your work, you can also send a picture anytime for us to post on the blog or on facebook. Let us know if we can post it with your first name or if you just want it posted anonymously.

Please email me if you have any questions at sewhookedonlove@yahoo.com. I also want to thank Elizabeth for making us a Facebook page.
