This is the first lapghan I'm making with more feminine colors. I love this light purple color.

May Lapghan by Ivette, SHOL member
Thank you Ivette. The gray yarn was a nice touch. I never thought of using that color but it looks great!

SHOL Member Photo Submissions
Our member Donna has shared these pic of her work with the team. I love seeing what you are all up to. Thanks for the pics and you handiwork Donna.
What I've been working on this month...
This is the rectangular granny square lapghan I'm working on. The pattern is easy peasy and works up quickly. Here's the link -

I'll post a pic when I'm finished. Hope all is well with all of my SHOL team.

Our 2014 Project: Sentara Senior Hospice (On-site and in-home care)
Project: I have always wanted a project that directly blesses seniors but never found an opportunity until now! This year we are going to be making lapghans for seniors at Sentara Hospital's Senior Hospice Care. Lapghans will go to both on-site and in-home care patients.
Project dates: May 1 - October 31, 2014
Project dimensions: a rectangular lapghan (a general size is about 36 inches by 45 inches). Give or take a few inches if your pattern is not exactly those dimensions. Follow your pattern.
Organization Website: http://www.sentara.com/services/hospice-services/Pages/default.aspx (it's pretty detailed so feel free to browse around a few times).
Final word: I understand that lapghans take much longer than our usual smaller projects so I'm not setting a goal just yet. Lapghans are not something you can crank out but each piece will be a source of warmth and comfort for patients during their final days. Feel free to also pray to The Lord for the future recipient's comfort and peace as they approach end of life. Let's make 2014 another meaningful and memorable year as we serve God through our hands. Let's get those hooks, needles and sewing machines going SHOL team!
Note from Sandra
Hello all,
Since almost all of our team members are on Facebook, I have chosen that as my preferred means of communication since last summer. However, I am going to update this blog during our 2014 project and see how it goes. This may be the best means of communication to reach non-members and members who are not on Facebook. I hope you are ready for an amazing 2014 season!
-Sandra
